Take Off

Follow me on my journey to becoming a pilot and the women who have inspired me to reach beyond the clouds.

Embrace the struggle otherwise you never know what you are capable of
— Lt. Rebekah Seifer

Lt. Rebeka Seifer was one of the first female aviators that I met while working at Wingspan News. She is truly a special person who not only has accomplished such amazing things in her career with the United Staes Coast Guard but also I am inspired with how much she gives back to the community. If there was one person who has inspired me to reach beyond my comfort zone its Rebeka. One day I hope to have her sitting next to me when they call me pilot in command.

To learn more about Rebeka please watch this video I helped with profiling her in Diversity in Aviation.

This summer I started working on a project for Wingspan News profiling Val as she was known to all. Her quote above has resonated with me especially now as I work towards facing the new and exciting challenges that the college admission process presents this year. To learn more about Vals’ amazing story and the Wings for Val organization please see the video.

Adapt and Overcome
— Lieutenant Valerie Cappelaere Delaney

Lieutenant Valerie Cappelaere Delaney, 26, who was killed on March 11, 2013, when the Navy jet she was piloting crashed in Eastern Washington State during a training mission. She served as an EA-6B Prowler pilot in Electronic Attack Squadron 129 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington.

There is nobody like Wally Funk. What a true pioneer for women in aviation. She learned to fly at a very young age. But Wally had her sights on going to space. So she was invited along with 13 other women to “try out” for the Mercury Space program. Unfortunately, as was the case for most women, discrimination kept Wally from achieving her dream. That is until Jeff Bezos approached her in 2019 to right the wrong done so many years ago. Indeed an inspirational character and legend in aerospace. We stand on the shoulders of Wally. Click the video below to see an interview we did with Wally in the studio.

Never give up on a dream
