About my school

St. John’s College High School (SJC) is located in Washington, DC. Established by the Christian Brothers order in 1854 it was originally conceived as an all boys military academy. In the early 1990s SJC started accepting girls into the high school. Today it is a thriving diverse community which continues a strong legacy of academic excellence while also preparing tomorrows leaders.

I was selected to enroll in the highly competitive De La Salle Scholars Program which provides the highest-achieving students an opportunity to mature intellectually beyond the traditional classroom. To gain admission to the four year program students must achieve top academic performance, scores in the top 5% of High School Placement Test, excellent teacher recommendations, and involvement in service and extracurricular activities.

One of my proudest moments was when I was selected as a Peer Minister my senior year. A chance for me to take what I have learned over my four years at SJC and help younger students with many of the same challenges I had to overcome.
